Burnham's Beat: The Perfect VC: Operator or Investor?
Interesting discussion about whether VCs should be operators or investors.
In Germany of course, the discussion often stops at I-Bankers vs. Consultants ;-)

Patrick O'Brian 'couldn't even sail'
Says Tom Perkins (the 'P' in KPCB) in the BBC. Must go back to see how the biographer was taken in ;-). However, I don't see why POB has to be even a competent sailor, as long as he wrote like one.

eBay / craigslist
Very interesting News. I've followed Cragslist for a long time, wondering if they ever come to Germany (here's a direct copy). But wahts even more interesting is that where I read it (ft.com) Didn't pick up on the fact that the stake was "preexisting", ie not sold by Craigslist directly. Not very good for the paper of record, eh?

Infectious Greed: Where Does Online Mapping Go From Here?
Paul Kedrosky muses about online mapping. It's one of the most popular apps on the web. I'm surprised there isn't more consolidation going on in this area.
